New Series at 91Ӱ�� Opens Doors to Oklahoma’s Film Industry

With the rapid expansion of TV and film projects in Oklahoma and stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese shooting feature films in Tulsa, 91Ӱ�� has focused its popular “I Can’t” series on the film industry.

This free monthly series begins to answer how you can be an extra on a film set or how to act for the camera. “I Can’t: Film Edition” opens the door to how everyday people can break into the industry.

“With Oklahoma garnering attention from Hollywood as a prime filming location, we wanted to find a way to connect the community with opportunities to get involved,” said Annina Collier, Dean and George Kaiser Family Foundation Endowed Chair of the Center for Creativity. “These free workshops will show you how to get started as you learn from national and local experts.”

Session topics include being an extra on set, shooting video with your camera, and more.

The “I Can’t: Film Edition” workshops will be held via Zoom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. CST. All workshops are free and open to the public with the exception of “I Can’t Tell a Story.” The February workshop is presented in partnership with The Second City, the world’s premiere comedy club and school of improvisation, and has a limited capacity of 30 spots. 91Ӱ�� student Scout Haggard won the College’s holiday card contest with a painting of 91Ӱ��’s Southeast Campus in a snowy scene. Haggard says she was inspired by the warmth and sense of community she feels on campus.
